We are the sad society. Trying to hide from the reality and finding solace in music and drugs. I'm stressed I get cold from the coins in my pocket. I'm stressed my grades are poor. My crush acts like I ain't good for her. I'm ready to break the bank, steal mama or papa to buy the nike shoes and fit in the crew. You may have my body cause I need the expensive lipstick and a wig cause I hate how God made me. "we look alike though, haha,"
Why we so screwed up? We all trynna fit in a different class, a sad story even though we have a life. Every day in the streets we all zombies with no idea of how we'll make the future. Our lives been corrupted by social media attention. Posting how you had a good life 2hrs ago. At least you ate a delicious chicken at an expensive hotel in town, with your rich friends and now you only have fare in your pockets and hopes you won't feel hungry till you get another penny.
That makes you poor, you never accept who you are. Can't be OK and happy with what we have.
Why are we so screwed up? Wake up Africa. We still colonized. We still work tirelessly to buy the VX-V8 and make Toyota rich. I don't wanna buy mobius cause it's a Kenyan brand! You too international you don't do local brands. I'll kill my country man to make Samsung and Sony rich. How we sleep comfortably while our brother in Mandera might die of hunger at any time. You can't look at my shamba you're a witch. We're poor because we hate ourselves. And now I'm bleaching to look a little white. We lost the track, and that's loss of time, it's never recovered.
Let's go back a little bit, to where we lost track. A century ago I only tired tilling my shamba. Not much the community helped me to. I saw a ripe banana but my stomach is full. Kamau might pass hungry and have it.
Our believes were strong, no one fornicated because there were serious customs. This never brought any abortions or even suicides. I never had to report to school dressed with school uniforms and caged for hours to learn and subjected to a competition where I'll be judged because I never made it. We are chained in the system. We're are already cuffed.
We've forgotten our worth and hated each other. We just want to look cool.
We need each other, stay woke Africa.
"Kidole kimoja hakivunji chawa." (swahili proverb)
